FastEpistasis ran almost 15 times faster than PLINK, completing 81 376 epistasis tests per second compared to 5696 tests per second computed by PLINK (see Supplementary Table 1).
BiForce computed 505 000 pair-wise tests per second when using a single thread (2 380 714 using eight threads), whereas PLINK computed only 2990 pair-wise tests per second, i.e. a 168- and 796-fold speed increase using one and eight threads, respectively.
In the event that only SNP pair results below a P-value threshold are needed, requiring a negligible time for post-computation, FastEpistasis computes about 120 000 epistasis tests per second, ∼20 times faster than PLINK (also see below for output size effect in multiple phenotype analysis).
Similarly, Gibram Hemani (University of Queensland, Australia) described his use of graphics processing units to provide out-of-the-box and cost-effective computer systems for repetitive low-memory tasks, such as mind-bogglingly large numbers of pairwise tests for SNP interactions: upwards of 10 million tests per second can be achieved.

Instead, we measured the number of pair-wise tests computed per second by BiForce and PLINK in the quantitative trait situation using 10 000 SNPs and 200 samples on the same workstation as before.
Testing only OD, 15 tests (20 s test time, 2 reversals per second, 85% contrast) were performed with a 10-min break between monitors.
In case of multiple tests per patient, the first one was registered and subsequent test(s) were then removed.
Diagnostics: there are more than 500 diagnostic tests on the pack that run 10 times per second.
Companies' computer systems are attacked every day by hackers looking for passwords to sell on auctionlike black market sites where a single password can fetch $20. Hackers regularly exploit tools like John the Ripper, a free password-cracking program that use lists of commonly used passwords from breached sites and can test millions of passwords per second.
The lowest performance was exhibited by instance C which in one test achieved 2163 requests per second.
Compression was analyzed and the probe's entry speed before and during of test was 2 mm per second.
