Assessing cognitive abilities in children is challenging for two primary reasons: lack of testing engagement can lead to low testing sensitivity and inherent performance variability.
Our systematic review studied a complex intervention with three critical components designed to improve voluntary counselling and uptake of testing (engagement), reduce travel and improve receipt of test results (convenience), and to facilitate provision of results with appropriate information on treatment and counselling (long-term intervention).
