The U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) welcomes Perdido because it brings infrastructure to an isolated section of the Lower Tertiary Trend, says Lars Herbst, director of the Gulf region.
Perdido, which means "lost" in Spanish, will show how feasible it is to go after pockets of the estimated 3 billion to 15 billion barrels in the Lower Tertiary Trend, a geological play that extends from offshore Alabama to Mexico.
These days a lot of Chevron's combined brain and computer power is tuned to peer into the gulf's promising Lower Tertiary Wilcox trend.
Chevron has 100 prospective drilling spots in the Gulf of Mexico, but its highest hopes for a resumption of deepwater drilling lay in an area called the Lower Tertiary Wilcox trend, near where the continental shelf drops off into deep water.
Hence, increasing the production rates results in an incremental trend of tertiary oil recovery after gas breakthrough, which brings the ultimate tertiary recovery factor to a reasonable value (see Fig. 5a, b).

An increasing proportion of DKA admissions relative to total ICU admissions was observed in rural (P = 0.0003) and metropolitan hospitals (P = 0.01), whilst tertiary centres showed a declining trend (P = 0.006) (Fig. 2).
