But analysts doubted the effectiveness of such measures... "The only way out is to work on diplomacy to prevent sanctions, because in terms of sanctions Russia has a weaker position," said Investcafe analyst Andrei Shenk.

The Iranians now want more time spent spelling out what Iran will get in terms of sanctions relief in greater detail, so as to be sure of what it will receive.
"They are not there yet, and our assessment is — and we share this regularly with our Israeli counterparts in the intelligence and defense community — that there is time and space for the pressure we are mounting, which is unprecedented in terms of sanctions, to still yield results".
"We have to get on with the football and let the authorities do whatever they, in terms of legislation, in terms of sanctions, in terms of what they are going to do," he added.
