In the bio-medical literature, abbreviations are used for various important terms including: genes, proteins, diseases and chemical names (Federiuk, 1999).
Reassuringly, the most significant sex-biased GO terms include gene families clearly involved in sex-specific reproductive functions (e.g., oogenesis and flagellar motililty).
The largest classes of over-represented terms included genes whose functional annotations were involved in transferase (36%), porter/transporter/permease (18%), kinase (10%), binding (10%) and hydrolase (4%) activities.
The multi-retention gene pairs (Index 2) showed more enrichments with this term, including genes responding to phytohormones, nutrients, and other biological stimuli.
The remaining terms were associated with a relatively small number of genes (median of 19 genes per term, including genes associated with descendent terms), indicating the high specificity of these terms.

Arguably, the model was correct in predicting different annotation terms in the following examples, including gene FBgn0003502, where human curators initially decided that expression in 'procephalic ectoderm Aisnotis not detected for stage range 4 6; however, the sBFA-CRF predicted label, as well as a second careful visual inspection, would suggest the contrary.
