In Table 1, we report a direct comparison and a tentative assignment of peaks measured in the systems with (iii) and without (ii) SERS effects.
Peak characteristics and tentative identities are presented in Table 2. Peaks 1 4, 6 10, 13, 20, 24, and 25 showed UV spectra coherent with galloyl and hexahydroxydiphenoyl (HHDP) derivatives [ 12– 12].
The tentative identification of each peak (Table 1) was based on the fragmentation patterns in MS2 and MS3 experiments, UV spectra, and comparison with literature and MassBank database [14].
Figure 3b showed the tentative assignment of the peaks that appeared in the average SERS spectra of E. coli, P. putida, and B. subtilis biofilms.
Even though APCI-MS could not provide unambiguous identification of aroma compounds, literature data and comparison with other data enabled the tentative identification of many peaks.

We performed a tentative and preliminary identification of the differentially expressed peaks.
The UV-Vis and mass spectra of peaks present in the LC-PDA and LC-MS chromatograms respectively were compared to the work by Veit et al [ 35] for tentative identification of some of the major chromatogram peaks (Table 1).
