Using a case control design, 43 MS patients with the ε4 allele and 47 ε4 negative MS patients underwent structural and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) at 3T. Hypo- and hyperintense lesion volumes, whole brain and medial temporal volumes, and DTI parameters (fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD)) in normal-appearing brain tissue and lesions were compared between the groups.
These 3D angiograms (vessel enhanced volumes) were derived from the CTP data by quantifying the total change in Hounsfield units (HU) over all temporal volumes (total bolus), using the absolute area under the first temporal derivative curve as described in [ 18].
We demonstrated a correlation between total WMHs and decreased cortical temporal volume (Fig. 3; Table 2).
Figure 8(b) shows the deflation rate of the model magma chamber estimated by differentiation of the temporal volume changes.
In conclusion, the results of our study demonstrated that, using VBM with DARTEL, patients affected by CADASIL show a selective decrease in GM temporal volume.
The following ROIs were used for further analysis: frontal (volume-weighted average of orbital frontal, medial inferior frontal and superior frontal), parietal, temporal (volume-weighted average of superior temporal and medial inferior temporal), occipital, posterior and anterior cingulate, medial temporal lobe [MTL] (volume-weighted average of hippocampus and enthorinal) and cerebellum.
Given the source locations, we evaluated the temporal volume changes of the two sources using the time-dependent inversion method (Segall and Mathews, 1997) under the assumption that the two sources do not change their positions throughout the period.
In Kwon and Zewail's work, time resolved 4D ET was performed on a multi-walled carbon nanotube, with the acquisition of 4,000 spatiotemporal projections, followed by alignment, reconstruction and rendering of each 3D temporal volume separately [11].
Figure 7 shows the temporal volume changes of both sources, indicating that the magma beneath Aira caldera (solid curve) accumulated more rapidly between 2003 and 2006, than after 2007. Figure 2(a) shows a change in the trend in the middle of 2006, corresponding to decelerated magma accumulation beneath Aira caldera after the middle of 2006.
Hence studies of early functional brain changes in patients at risk for AD offer promise to compliment information from other biomarkers such as cognitive tests, spinal fluid changes, metabolic changes, and medial temporal volume loss [4], [5], [6].
Temporal volume reductions have been linked to clinical features [ 27].
