In the present model, theta activity bears an intrinsic temporal predictive function: it is driven by speech modulations, but is also resilient enough to syllable length variations to stay tuned to the global statistics of speech (average syllable duration).
Here, we proposed a neurobiological, temporal, predictive coding model, in which there are cells in the STG that code the difference between (1) segmental predictions (computed over conventional phonemic transcriptions for convenience) from a lexical-semantic system higher in the linguistic hierarchy and (2) sensory evidence derived from acoustic analysis in lower levels.
A more sophisticated filter used as a comparison is the CBM3D [17]; this filter works in other domain, which consists of two steps in which blocks are grouped by spatio-temporal predictive blockmatching and each 3D group is filtered by a 3D transform domain shrinkage, and the complex 3D wavelet transform method 3DWF shows better results in terms of PSNR and MAE criteria than our proposed filter.
However, spatial smoothing induces Berskson error, and the marginally wider confidence intervals observed for the spatio-temporal predictive estimates of PM2.5 are consistent with that.
A comparison of the distributions and correlations between PM2.5 and BC as measured from the stationary monitoring site and estimated from the spatio-temporal predictive models are summarized in Tables S2 and S3, respectively, in Additional file 1.
