Consistent with the results of the primer extension experiments, the percentage of primers extended in the presence of dCTP was highest (87 ± 1) on the nondamaged templates, intermediate (75 ± 6) on the γ-OH-PdGred-containing templates, and lowest (60 ± 2) on the γ-OH-PdG-containing templates (the data represent the mean values obtained from four independent experiments with standard deviations).
