We developed an economical approach to visualizing the pattern shapes in terms of their proximity to 2 different models or templates of interest, one perceptual, having to do with visual stimulus form, and one conceptual (Fig. 4 A ).
After warping the images to the final template, region of interest drawing was completed on the template through the Anatomical Automatic Labeling Toolbox [29].

The quantitation of the competitor templates or samples of interest is largely performed in a spectrophotometric manner; that is, the method takes into account the common measurement biases that occur between measurements and between laboratories.
Several automated approaches to MRI morphometry have been developed over the past decade, including template-based, region of interest (ROI) labeling procedures (e.g., see [ 39- 42]), cortical thickness approaches [ 43, 44] and voxel based morphometry (VBM [ 45- 47]).
