He said officers quickly consulted counterparts in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel and other countries to compile a "catalog" of techniques said to be effective against Arab and Muslim prisoners.
"Right now we're interested in experimenting with all kinds of lighting techniques," said Francois Wunschel of 1024 architecture.
"We felt that since there are full programs available for organic landscaping and lawn maintenance it was probably about time for an association that would spread the word and the techniques," said Steven J. Restmeyer of Eco-Logical Organic Landscaping in Yaphank and the president of the new group, the Long Island Organic Horticultural Association.
"Every operating room and training program should insist on the use of these techniques," said Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University, who was not involved with the new study.
These systems "may have less loss due to improved materials of construction and better construction techniques", said Dale Jacobson, governor of the World Water Council.
Many began as seasonal guards and worked their way into management roles and must stay certified as instructors in an array of advanced emergency, scuba and rescue techniques, said Brent Jacobsen, president of the Lifeguard Management Association, the lifeguards' union.
"In a period of five or six years of true brilliance, he developed most of the basic techniques," said Dr. Robert J. Birgeneau, president of the University of Toronto and former dean of science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Dr. Shull taught for decades.
But the main impetus there for the new demolition techniques, said Dr. Seike of the University of Tokyo, was a recycling law that took effect in 2002.
"One of the basic concepts of the park is to provide a window into the market for these new construction techniques," said Peter Kastl, director of housing and building technologies at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
"Urgent action is needed to improve the protection of animals and to replace unethical and outdated animal experiments with non-animal techniques," said Dr Gill Langley of the Dr Hadwen Trust, a non-animal medical research charity.
