Further, NDNQI'S technical assistance staff has reported that hospitals' staff voiced a strong concern and need to react when the bolded indicators when their unit showed a statistically significant problem (personal communication, Susan Klaus, 6/25/08).
However, our results suggest that even a more elaborate chart stamp, which prompts providers to refer and prescribe, may not be adequate to trigger clinician action without an accompanying referral system in place that is fully operationalized (i.e. staff training, technical assistance, staff roles defined in relation to the referral system, faxing process in place).
Fellows filled critical short-term expert staffing needs at IAVI as well as providing technical assistance and staff development activities.
