The Army deals with racism by teaching race relations in a program worked out by the Defense Race Relations Institute.
"They decided they were going to use African-Americans but in very small numbers and in segregated locations," said Charissa Threat, a history professor at Northeastern University who teaches race and gender studies.
She taught race, aesthetics, and curatorial practice in the Art History department at Bryn Mawr College.

Alexander Wurz, a former Formula One driver who teaches at the young driver training program of the International Automobile Federation, the sport's governing body, said he devotes a day to teaching racing line theory to young drivers.
I asked Wurz, who at 39 still competes in the top level of sports-car racing and also teaches race-driving courses to young drivers at the International Automobile Federation, the governing body of auto sport, if he thought there was a cycling/racing connection.
Now copies of it are being passed around town to black and white families, and schools are planning to use the documentary as part of the curriculum to teach about race relations.
