Mortality data shows that TB is the 5th leading cause of death in all children under 14 years, the 6th leading cause in the post-neonatal period (age 29 days to 11 months), and the 4th leading cause in children 1-4 years [ 1].
From the national data, the age-specific TB mortality rate increased sharply with increasing age, by approximately 150-300 times between age 20-29 age age 70+.
