Generally understood as the clusters of skills, abilities and knowledge needed for occupational tasks competency-based health professional education has had a long history and is stressed in the accreditation of healthcare management education programs world wide [ 14- 17].
3. Regulate tasks (competencies), not professions.
During the development of the educational needs assessment, the group discussed case management tasks, competencies required or desirable for them, risks to minimise, and the tools required to undertake the case management role successfully.
In Step 4, the project team work closely with clinicians from the expert advisory panel to dissect each of the selected evidence-based programs and guidelines into a set of actionable tasks (competencies), which represent how that program would be implemented in practice.
These cards are presented to a child in pairs, with one picture demonstrating task competency and the other demonstrating less competence.

This instrument can thus be used to provide objective feedback on overall and task-specific competency in cochlear implantation.
