In our view, a concerted programme of action is needed – ranging from the provision of science and engineering apprenticeship programmes for disadvantaged young women to targeting science and engineering-based organisations to enhance board level representation of women.
The program, meant to "inspire innovators of tomorrow," targets science, math, engineering, and technology students in their last year of high school.
More efforts in the science education community and by funding agencies should be directed at implementing evidence-based, short-term intervention programs to target science teachers rather than conducting and funding additional studies of teacher ambivalence towards evolutionary science.
