Interestingly, defects in lysosomal Ca2+ handling have also been implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous genetically inherited lysosomal storage diseases [ 45, 46] and, therefore, fully understanding the dynamics of Ca2+ signalling from these compartments is of tangible importance.
Particularly in science and engineering domains, such tasks involve relations between observable, tangible phenomena at a macroscopic level and their underlying structure, processes, and dynamics at a microscopic level.
