Ms. Mayzler said she wanted to steer clear of talking about results.
Second, they will be written to avoid saying who won. "They will describe who was booked, but we're not talking about results," Miller said in an interview from London.
"Right now we don't need to be talking about results, or even the performance," said the 56-year-old.
"We are cautious about talking about results as we intend to submit a paper with the analyses rather soon," says Pääbo.
Or even if the senior receptionists are doing it, taking valuable time [rather than getting on with other, perhaps more pertinent tasks] talking about results which are normal.
We're not talking about failure as a result of lack of care or incompetence.
A little talked-about result of the phone-hacking scandal, they said, is that the younger visionary figures in the company, namely James and his sister Elisabeth Murdoch, have been at least temporarily marginalized.
"You lot only ever talk about results," Tata Martino complained one day, but that was pretty much the last thing they talked about.
Still, he added, "Every time I talk about results I say we still have far to go and you will see evidence of that".
"Agencies have come to realize that impact evaluation is the only way you can meaningfully talk about results," says Howard White, who heads the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), a nonprofit launched in 2008.
