New laws to tackle religious hatred and bigotry related to football have been passed by the Scottish Parliament, despite a lack of opposition support.
However, critics of the Al Saud ruling family say it has not done enough to tackle sectarian intolerance, hatred of infidels and praise for the principles of violent jihad propagated by Saudi clerics, which they see as contributing to militancy.
"Tackling bigotry and hatred isn't just about legislation, but about wider action to help bring communities coming together.
"Labour will always lead the way in tackling any form of hatred or prejudice but we are being hampered in that fight by a small number who are not welcome in our party," he said.
But before audiences can take in that harrowing effort, there is the matter of another hatred-tackling story.
The proposed legislation is supported by the police who believe they need the new law to tackle disorder and songs of "hatred, religion and terrorism".
"As ignorance spreads in the name of religion," he said, "Muslims, Christians, and Jews have to close ranks in order to tackle all forms of extremism, hatred, and insularity".
Muslims have always made, and continue to make, a valuable contribution to society.' The lines to be used by ministers include measures designed to address Muslim concerns, such as the introduction of religious hatred legislation and tackling educational underachievement among Muslims.
The assault comes a day after police set up a hot-line to tackle complaints about anyone "inciting religious or racial hatred hatred".
