From elaborately painted 18th-century pieces to Edith Heath's earthy, modern "Coupe" plates of the 1940s, Riegler traces the evolution of tabletop tastes, including sections on plant and flower motifs (majolica; Spode's glorious grape plates), restaurant ware (Tavern on the Green; Elks lodges) and souvenir plates (from Mt. Vernon to Mount Rushmore), to name a few.
Two microsamples were removed from the tabletop and mounted as cross-sections for Raman and SEM EDS measurements.
The second sample cross-section removed from the tabletop is missing the ground preparation layer (Fig. 7c, d).
