Although simulation outputs from 11 models are available from the CMIP5 Earth System Grid Federation data server as of 01 February 2017, we excluded output from the MIROC-ESM due to climate drift in its simulation (Sueyoshi et al. 2013).
First, we compiled weekly SST data from the National Climatic Data Center National Operational Model Archivee and Distribution System Meteorological Data Server, NOMADS, NOAA Satellite and Information Service), and interpolated maps at 0.1° resolution.
In two systems, data were stored on a central server, and in the third an online database was used, with access through both desktop computers and laptops or personal digital assistants, allowing generation of real-time reports.
