All the cyclic paths were identified through this systematic procedure of the diagram drawing.
The concepts within this diagram include systematic evaluation of staff numbers required; appropriate, adequate and regulated selection process; supplying staff of different ranks; patient admission coordinated with the head nurse; and appropriate working relations within teams.
Four hundred and six articles met the selection criteria for the period 2000-2008, and were added to the 71 studies previously identified, obtaining a total sample of 477 studies (see additional file 2: "Flow diagram of systematic review to identify eligible studies") [ 2].
