Synthesis trials were carried out with mixed silicon and carbon black powders under the same reaction condition (1,500°C, 9 h, 1 atm, 200 sccm continuous Ar flow).
(3) Chamber pressure effect: We briefly explored the influence of the chamber pressure on the SiC nanostructure growth by performing synthesis trials at 1.5 torr and 1 atm pressure at 1,500°C for 9 h with a 200 sccm continuous flow of Ar gas.
(2) Reaction duration effect: A series of synthesis trials were carried out with the reaction time of 5, 6, 9, 10.5 and 12 h at 1,500°C reaction temperature and 1 atm chamber pressure with a 200 sccm continuous flow of Ar gas. Figure 8a 8d show the SEM images of the nanostructures synthesized with 5-, 6-, 9- and 10.5-h reaction duration, respectively.

This is not only a quick and cost-effective strategy to identifying trial participants but has the added advantage of reducing heterogeneity of trial populations enabling synthesis of trial data and indirect comparisons between trial treatments.
Data Synthesis: Eighteen trials were identified.
If feasible, a common measure of injury risk reduction would have been used to facilitate data synthesis across trials with similar interventions.
Data synthesis Thirteen trials (3025 patients) involving a variety of pain conditions were eligible.
Data synthesis 31 trials in 116 429 patients with more than 115 000 patient years of follow-up were included.
Data synthesis 11 trials were included (4796 patients); 10 reported on short term outcomes (n=4709) and nine on intermediate term outcomes (1-4 years).
A majority of these methods focus on effectiveness or intervention reviews and add findings of non-experimental research to the synthesis of trials in a separate step (parallel or multi-level synthesis).
Trials of non-dressing topical treatments (e.g. lotions, growth factors and skin replacements) were excluded as these were considered to be beyond the remit of this evidence synthesis; however trials of impregnated dressings and saline-moistened dressings (e.g. gauze) were eligible for inclusion.
