Since a feature inherent in the Leitbild of sustainable development is the consideration of strategies for shaping current and future society according to its normative content, guidance is necessary and the ultimate aim of sustainability analyses, reflections, deliberations and assessments.
Mentorship, reflections, and sustainability are potential solutions that have been proposed to tackle the obstacles faced during community service participation in medical school.
Notably, we have identified the following areas for sustainability: advanced planning, periodic reflections, training successive batches, recuperation of costs, encouraging dedication of previous volunteers, funding, government help, education of the target population, and innovation.

In order to fine-tune the support given to medical students in their quest, this paper seeks to understand the obstacles that these students face, their corresponding solutions in the face of adversity, and how management strategies such as mentorship, reflections and sustainability plans are relevant in resolving their issues.
However, participants' recall may also be regarded as a true reflection of the sustainability of the GP's advice.
Leaders may need to continually reflect on the successes and failures of their sustainability-oriented work, remaining attentive to the multiplicity of factors that accentuate or attenuate program sustainability, and to use those reflections as a basis for continued evolution and improvement.
