Open Door has helped thousands of young people with therapy and support with problems including depression, anxiety, self-harm, drug and alcohol misuse, eating disorders, psychosis, sexuality and gender identity issues since it opened in 1976.
The survey found students said the advantages of the program were an accessible figure to talk to (24%), support with problems (22%), guidance to help them understand or "figure things out" (13%), and "being encouraged in their faith" (13%).
A range of other services are also available at over 120 clinic sites across South Australia, with additional support including a telephone helpline, day-long support at community clinics for parents who need additional support with problems such as feeding or settling; and residential care for families with major unresolved problems with infant feeding, settling, and sleeping problems.

These three domains were professional socialization (transmission of norms and values, disciplinary knowledge, and skills), intellectual support (with problem solving and strategizing), and personal/emotional support (providing support by expressing interest and being friendly and accessible).

There should be continued social support, assistance with problem solving, and intervention plans in place for missed appointments or delays in care.
