The presence of such a bias is supported by the mean age at diagnosis of symptomatic PSIS in our cohort, 3.6 years, compared to those reported in the literature, 4 to 9 years [5], [7], [12], [13], [15], [21].
Our series supports this observation with the mean age of our H1N1 affected group lower than that of our CF clinic.
This premise is supported by our findings that the mean age of the obese individuals in this study was younger than the mean age of the normal weight group (i.e. 74.9 versus 78.7 years, respectively), likely a result of increased mortality.
