As in many other bacteria species, in M. loti, S. meliloti and E. coli, a ROSE element was identified upstream of these operons (Supplementary Fig. S2A).
The administration technique was validated by measuring the brain activation in response to a rose-like smelling odor (phenyl ethyl alcohol) in 8 participants (see supplementary material S1).
Several members of the Wnt-signaling cascade including ligands, receptors, and regulators showed distinct species-specific patterns (supplementary tables S8 S10, Supplementary Material online, members of the Wnt-pathway are marked in pale rose).
Moreover, the aforementioned relationships depicted by rose diagrams are consistent with those of the other analysis on genome organization (Application2.pdf of the Supplementary Material).
Due to a space limit, only the rose diagrams (using a binwidth of 10○) of the first three pairs are presented in Figure 1; see Supplementary Figure S1 in Application1.pdf for all rose diagrams.
All class A sHSP from M. loti MAFF303099 (mll2387, mll3033, mlr3192 and mll9627-plasmid encoded) showed a ROSE element downstream to the promoter, which would confer high-temperature sensitivity to the transcription of these genes (Supplementary Fig. S2A).
