People in the coastal areas primarily work in fishing, but also undertake various trades as supplementary occupations.
This may represent increasing professionalization of fisheries so that households which rely on fisheries had less supplementary occupations at higher levels of development.
This means that households in densely populated areas which rely on salaried employment or informal activities are less likely to have supplementary occupations than similar households in less densely populated places.
