The lines depict the relationship for the ratio between measured and BLM calculated toxicity (measured LC50, EC50) as well as the ratio between the molar sum of metals (Fe, Al) and DOC in four lakes.
The degree of underestimation, defined as the ratio between BLM and measured toxicity was, for both the alga and the daphnids, best correlated with the molar ratio between the sum of metals (Fe and Al) and DOC (Fig. 2 ).
The amount of metal in the smoke stream was calculated as the difference between the total metal in the waterpipe tobacco and the sum of metal in the water vessel and the ash residue.
For the purposes of analysing the total amount of metal waterpipe users are exposed to, the sum of the metal concentration in smoke and the amount accumulated on the filter were used.
Age, body mass index (BMI), and smoking did not differ with quartile of total metal exposure (constructed as the sum of all metals in the study).
The total metal THQ (sum of individual metal THQ for the analyzed vegetables) is shown in Fig. 2.

The combination of ferrocene (Fe(II)(C5H5 2, Aldrich 98%), denoted by Fe(II Cp2, and Pt II)(acac 2has also been investigated while keeping constant the sum of both metal complex concentrations and PVP ones to 10 mM and 50 mM, respectively.
Concentrations for Fe III)(acac 3, Pt II)(acac 2, and PVP were varied while keeping constant the sum of both metal complex concentrations and PVP ones to 3 mM and 6 mM, respectively.
It predicts that organometallic species "in which the sum of the metal valence electrons plus the electrons donated by the ligand groups total 18 are likely to be stable".
We observed no correlation between IL-6 release and the total concentration of iron, or the sum of the toxic metals arsenic, selenium, mercury, and lead.
