Jeanette was suffering from kwashiorkor, a micronutrient deficiency that causes swelling in the hands and feet, tooth loss, distinctive rust-colored hair and a painfully distended belly.
Yet two bonny specimens (one in a wall-mounted manger, the other in a bed) are suffering from a 'rust' infection on the underside of the leaves, matched by a yellow discolouration on the surface.
