AISM-within-Gibbs easily reaches the same performance as the ideal case (sampling directly from the full conditionals) even for small values of T, whereas the MH-within-Gibbs needs a substantially larger value of T (up to T=500 for σ p =0.1) to attain a similar performance.
A substantially larger value such as that observed might indicate the existence of some features, probably in the viral RNA-dependent RNA-polymerase (protein NS5B in HCV) that might either facilitate or prevent recombination, thus leading to the observed discrepancy.
In the mouse and the bee data, the proportion of transcripts with substantially large values clearly exceeds the proportion of small values.
In Figure 2b, we investigate the effect of the dedifferentiation rate, γ, on the probability of resistance, R t), finding that larger values of γ lead to a substantially higher risk of developing resistance.
