The present study developed a Nicotine and Other Substance Interaction Expectancies Questionnaire (NOSIE) to investigate the expectancies held by substance abusers in treatment about the effects of smoking on substance use, the effects of substance use on smoking, smoking to cope with recovery, and receptivity to smoking cessation during substance abuse treatment.
The two-way ANOVA reveals a Substance effect (F = 13.56, p<0.001) and a Group x Substance interaction (F = 13.09, p<0.001).
The two-way ANOVA indicates a Group effect (F = 7.81, p<0.01), but no Substance effect (F = 2.22, ns) and no Group x Substance interaction (F = 1.94, ns).

More research is needed to compare, among people who use substances, interactions between substance use, SMI, and substance-related consequences.
The quality of the supplement, amount taken, need for the substance and interactions with other nutrients affect the usefulness and outcomes.
