The investigation focused on the experimental determination of electrophoretic mobility (EPM) under a range of pH and ionic strength, as well as by subsequent modeling in which Shewanella cells were considered to be soft particles with water- and ion-permeable outermost layers.
In subsequent models, in which were successively included diastolic filing of left ventricle, albumin level, and posterior wall thickness only left atrium maintained statistically significant association with PH (relative risk of 1.172; 95% confidence interval of 1.010 – 1.359; p = 0.036).
