Here, we define subcellular polarity and discuss evidence that supports a role for subcellular polarity in biology.

In addition to the traditional form of cell polarity, which is involved establishment of maintenance of normal cell structure and asymmetry, we propose that some mammalian polarity proteins also regulate subcellular polarity (intracellular asymmetry), which can improve cellular fitness to carry out functions such as proliferation, apoptosis, stress adaptation, stemness and organelle biology.

We speculate, therefore, that the establishment of subcellular polarity will often involve a role for targeted transport of mRNA through particular nuclear pores to their associated cytoplasmic domains.

In the Drosophila pupal wing, these proteins adopt distinct proximal and distal localizations in apicolateral junctions that act as subcellular polarity cues to control morphological events.

In this study, we focus specifically on the mechanisms determining Ft Ds subcellular polarity in the Drosophila third instar wing imaginal disc.

It has been proposed that changes in phosphorylation status by the antagonistic activities between PID (and related kinases) and the protein phosphatase PP2A modulate the subcellular polarity of PINs [ 19, 20].

Our results suggest that KEGG enrichment scores, subcellular locations, polarity, amino acids composition, hydrophobicity, secondary structure propensity, and number of protein complexes, play irreplaceable roles for protein's metabolic stability.

With the feature selection approach based on the mRMR method and IFS procedure, we found that the following seven features would play the major roles in determining the stability of proteins: KEGG enrichment scores, subcellular locations, polarity, amino acids composition, hydrophobicity, secondary structure propensity, and the number of protein complexes.

The dynamicity of subcellular PIN polarity is important to modulate local auxin gradient formation and ultimately diverse developmental processes, which are subject to perpetual changes in environmental and developmental stimuli.

It was revealed through our analysis that the following seven characters played major roles in determining the stability of proteins: (1) KEGG enrichment scores of the protein and its neighbors in network, (2) subcellular locations, (3) polarity, (4) amino acids composition, (5) hydrophobicity, (6) secondary structure propensity, and (7) the number of protein complexes the protein involved.
