In this study, the GIS-based framework of real-time debris-flow hazard assessment for expressway sections was proposed based on the KEC debris-flow hazard assessment method.
As the future study, the GIS-based developed tool should be improved to consider the effect of steeply mining, heterogeneity of rock mass, and influence of fault and surface topography conditions.
To investigate the role of anthropogenic pathways, our study utilized the GIS maps of rivers, river ports, lakes, railways (Fig. 1C), and the spatial distribution of human-population density in 2000 (Fig. 1D).

In our study, we overlaid the GIS theme of soil drainage classes with the firescars theme and assigned the average fractions of C consumed (see Table 3) to individual firescars in reference to their land cover types and soil drainage classes as defined by the Alaska STATSGO.
