Some community college systems already are stepping up to engage with former ITT students, and leadership by governors and the Department of Education in steering students to better quality programs also could make a big difference.
They should also hold students accountable for such reasoning by participating in discussion, modeling thinking, and steering students away from rote procedural operations towards conceptual reasoning (Chari et al. 2017).
