"It is going to be very difficult for students who are in temporary accommodation, like hotels, to arrange shared housing when they don't know anyone and most of this housing will have been taken already by second-year students," said a spokesman for the NUS.
Although she has no historical connection with Dundee, the university said it was pleased to give her the honour: "We just decided we would like to honour her because of her contribution to fashion and textiles, because we have so many textiles students here," a spokesman said.
It currently has about 9,000 students, though a spokesman said he couldn't say how many were online.
"There are a lot of well-intentioned ideas out there, but so far none of them goes far enough to protect students," Chip Unruh, a spokesman for Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I ., saiD-R.I .
"Corinthian continues to dispute the allegations made against it and continues to believe its schools provide significant value for its students," Joe Hixson, a spokesman for Corinthian at Abernathy MacGregor Group, said in an emailed statement.
"Most medical student clinical clerkships are authorized and administered by the medical schools and the hospitals wherein the schools place their students," a NYSED spokesman said.
The school has one security officer and 1,939 students, said Ron Davis, a spokesman for the United Federation of Teachers, although the police said it also has 24 aides who help monitor the students.
"The comptroller has allowed political pressure to get in the way of vital technology that would help our students," said Jonathan Burman, a spokesman for the department.
"I look at it as an incredible opportunity that has been missed for our students," said Jon Dahlander, a spokesman for the Dallas Independent School District, which has spent $18 million on tutoring since 2009.
At the Street Academy High School in Bedford-Stuyvesant, with 250 students, there were 23 incidents during the last school year, and 26 incidents the previous year, when there were 301 students, said Jonathan Burman, a spokesman for the State Education Department.
