Our university has ziggurats instead of tower blocks for student accommodation and the motto is "do different".
Stanford immediately injected a note of brash optimism, changing the schools' motto from "Every student can learn" to "Every student will learn". He endowed principals with nearly complete authority over their schools and fired them if they didn't make them work.
Then we started merchandising utility products, memory sticks, folders, just so students would constantly engage with the union and subconsciously remember our motto – 'driven by students' interests and welfare'.
Messages from prominent faculty and student leaders, along with the motto "Don't Just Learn It, Live It," challenge the community to continue making progress.

Students abide by the school motto "Nil sine magno labore," which means, "Nothing without great effort".
That's our motto, and the students exemplify it.

And then it struck me how all those topics circle around Glendale Unified School District's motto, "Preparing our students for their future". So what is their future and how does it differ from ours, or that of our parents or their parents?
