Moving Range charts (often used with the Individuals Chart (also known as the X or I chart) use different interpretation rules to cater for the very strong non-normality of Moving Range data.
Unfortunately, estimates of α generated in the simulation studies exhibited fairly strong departures from normality even with hundreds of samples, suggesting that the usual asymptotic normal confidence intervals for α might not be appropriate for typical biomarker studies.
More specifically, we study asymptotic properties for identification of such systems, including strong consistency, asymptotic normality and asymptotic efficiency, and determine their relationship with quantization errors and the packet losses.
The fact that the test rejects so often is quite strong evidence against normality.
Before conducting the QTL analysis, outliers with a value greater than ± 3 s.d. of the trait average were removed to reduce the effect of strong deviation from normality.
In contrast, examining TL separately for transgenic and wild-type fish during growth and regeneration, respectively, as well as pooling all data for wild-type fish, did not indicate a strong deviation from normality (W ≥ 0.93, p ≥ 0.06).

We calculated regular Spearman correlation coefficients, because there were strong deviations from normality in the rating scales (externalizing behaviour and withdrawal had very strong skew. The results of the reliability analyses are shown in Table 1. The internal consistency of the SAPAS was slightly lower in this sample than in the psychiatric sample (α = 0.62).

The stronger deviation from normality in girls with externalizing, particularly hyperactive, symptoms compared to boys with identical symptoms is reflected in the normative samples of the questionnaires [ 36] and consistent with empirical evidence [ 24].
