Dr. Valantine said the findings had led her to scrap the idea that people should strive for "work-life balance" and instead think in terms of "work-life integration".

Nixon frequently reminds herself of how their lives would be if she didn't strive for excellence, work diligently, courageously and persistently.
"You know what would be nice," she said, "is if the marketplace would demand that maybe some reality shows would start portraying some very healthy, independent young women who are striving for strong work ethic examples and doing those things that are kind of the antithesis of so many of the things that we're seeing portrayed in reality shows today".
"It has to do with being comfortable with the notion that the world is complicated and full of greys, but there's still truth there to be found, and that you have to strive for that and work for that.
She also hopes that the journal will help to set a benchmark for science projects in Canadian schools, and that "teachers will use many of the published projects as examples of exemplary practice" to encourage students to strive for their "best work".
People do differ, even medical students, and we should strive for educational and work environments that can harbour people with different strengths and vulnerabilities, and maybe help guide students into career paths that are optimal for them also from a health perspective.
