The store's parent company, Wal-Mart Stores, issued a statement saying it had modified its intercom system at the store to prevent such breaches.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. issued a statement yesterday saying that it regretted the injuries and was grateful none were serious.
Dick's Sporting Goods, a chain with more than 500 stores, said in a statement that "during this time of national mourning" it was stopping gun sales, and withdrawing them from display, at its store closest to Newtown.
