This first of several health related consignments in the pipeline from UNICEF includes 140 emergency health kits, each covering the needs of a population of 10,000 people, 80 neo-natal resuscitation kits, 80 sterilization kits and special nutritional supplements for 110,000 children under five and 42,000 pregnant women.
Specimens were sterilized using plasma sterilization (H2O2).
All inlays were sterilized by gas sterilization using ethylene oxide.
3. The use of a prepackaged kit facilitates materials manipulation and allows for homogenous sterilization.
Tap water chlorination levels, pre and post sterilization, were determined using the Hach chlorine, free and total test kit as per manufacturer's instructions (cat. no. 2231−01, Hach, Loveland, CO, USA).

For normal deliveries, UNICEF has developed the Midwifery Kit, containing basic medicines, renewable medical supplies, medical equipment and basic sterilization and resuscitation equipment.
Potential benefits of a disposable instrument kit are the reduction of the pre/post-operative costs due to the sterilization, the reduction of the risk of contamination, total traceability and new instruments for each surgery thus reducing the risk of damaged devices.
Based on the GoI guidelines, only doctors can provide female sterilization [ 25]. *Condoms and oral contraceptive pills are included in the National Rural Health Mission Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA, a community health worker) kit.
