For the steady-state examples, the spatial patterns of hot spot formation are governed by 1st (global) and 2nd (local) order variations in subsurface topography which influence hydrologic residence time in sediments of varying thickness and depth variable saturated hydraulic conductivity.
This paper presents a heuristic algorithm to implement a model predictive controller for systems with binary inputs in which the effect of the control signal on the response partially vanishes before reaching steady state, for example systems that exhibit both fast and slow stable dynamics.
Figure 14 shows the time evolution of a specific case with a fixed orbit of a = 0.02 AU and e = 0.5 that reaches a tidal steady state, an example of the scenario described in Section 3. Tidal heating initially starts low (∼10−3 TW) before increasing as the mantle cools for the first 10 Myr, until the mantle reaches a steady-state temperature of Tm ≈ 1800 K.

Of course, one has to ensure that the measured time points and possible assumptions that are made for the logical steady state analysis, for example, regarding the activity of feedback loops, are valid [ 100].
Conversely, although critical levels would be reached even less frequently if centromeres contained a steady state of, for example 300 CENP-A nucleosomes, this degree of accuracy may be superfluous and not outweigh the cost of maintaining a large centromere size.

In the above examples, steady state errors created by some, but not all, disturbances to a renewal-controlled lineage can be reduced by aggressive feedback, but high feedback gains also bring on oscillations and instability.
Such problems appear in many fields of physics (e.g., in hydrodynamics, elasticity or plasticity), more specifically, when describing or analyzing the steady state filtration (see, for example, [1, 7 9] and the references cited therein) and the problem of finding the equilibrium of soft shells (see, for example, [1, 7, 10 12] and the references cited therein).
It is important to note that these changes imply changes in many economic variables such that, from the ex-post perspective (i.e. in the new steady state), firing costs, for example, may be higher or lower than 25%% of average real wages because the latter may have changed.
For example, steady state expression levels of genes with faster decay rates are altered more rapidly by changes in the rate of transcription than genes with slower decay rates [18].
