The animals that participated in the study are members of a captive breeding colony of spotted hyenas, maintained at the Field Station for the Study of Behavior, Ecology, and Reproduction (FSSBER) at the University of California, Berkeley.
According to the recorded meteorological data in Badra station (north of the study area) for the period (1994 2013), the monthly maximum, minimum, and average temperatures are 37.8, 10.4, and 24.56 °C, respectively.

"There are no findings," a summary of the report reads, "that would warrant a reduction in the number and capacity of transfer stations in the study area".

L-moment regionalization procedures coupled with an index rainfall method were applied to maximum rainfall records of 47 stations across the study area.
In the previous part under section 3.1.1, Table 1 unveils the service area coverage for 400- and 800-m walking distances for each of the stations in the study.
