The index, created in conjunction with data analysis firm Sustainalytics, took more than two years to compile and parsed user agreements, privacy policies, terms of service and corporate reports for statements relating to user rights, then used them to answer 31 multi-part questions, returning to each company for right of reply and changing the indicators if policies were updated or altered.
In a statement to its users on Monday, LinkedIn echoed the suggested tactics: "All members should take care to manage and change passwords across other sites, avoid reuse, leverage advanced security features, and update often".
Although the order in which policy statements are displayed to users is not important in VAAs, the policy statements are usually correlated and grouped into categories (e.g., external policy, economy, society, etc).
In both cases, monthly statements are mailed to users.
