Previous research into providing interpersonal technology-mediated interruption management support has predominantly been conducted from a paradigmatic standpoint that focused on modeling the context of the person being interrupted (interruptee) such as his/her mental workload, activity and location as a means to identify opportune/inopportune moments for communication.
From this standpoint, we focused on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the DNA repair gene, X-ray repair cross-complementing groups 1 (XRCC1) which was the first identified human gene involved in the repair of single strand break (SSB) of DNA formed by exposure to ionizing radiation and alkylating agents [ 20].
Having been criticized for its linear approach [ 7], sequential analysis has become more sophisticated and dialectical, taking account of the 'garbage can' model [ 8] and of interactions between 'stages' and between 'streams' [ 9] and adopting a standpoint more focused on process and dynamics [ 10, 11].
So from a structural standpoint, we're focused on those two giant areas.
However, in light of the above discussion and also from a modern standpoint which focuses on structures, objects and relations, the "number" approach not only inevitably falls short in recognising the essence of the cognitive roots of mathematics but also in relating it to other fundamental cognitive domains, such as language, for example.
