Figure 7 shows that all the local features of an image before standardization (Fig. 7a and b) were well preserved in the post-standardization image (Fig. 7c and d).
The prerequisites include image standardization (of gray value range, distribution, magnification in relation to object measurements, etc)., detection of regions of interest (ROI), standardized image transformation procedures, and sophisticated statistical algorithms of flexible and self-learning classifiers.
However, to establish standardization in image quality, important imaging parameters were suggested and documented (Table S2, supporting information).
Imaging protocols were not standardized or specified, apart from suggesting and documenting important imaging parameters to establish a reasonable standardization in image quality.
The results of this study can thus be seen as an important step towards standardization and image quality control of PET measurements in the context of PET/MR hybrid imaging.
Nonetheless, in the next decade we are likely to see increasing standardization of image acquisition and analysis techniques in order to allow these clearly important imaging techniques to pass into routine research and clinical practice.
Standardization of image acquisition, reconstruction, and segmentation prior to radiomics analysis [52, 53] will be critical to improve reproducibility of radiomic feature estimation [54, 55].
Additionally, when creative products are displayed digitally and formatted similarly, this study supported the use of digitization and standardization of image size, which may have affected the interrater reliability of experts [α = .66 (95% CI.50 .79)], when compared to previous research documenting the use of the CAT (Baer et al. 2004, 2009; Kaufman et al. 2005).
They highlighted that standardization of image assessment promotes interobserver agreement.
The standardization of image acquisition and processing protocols also implies that high quality reference data are being acquired.
The major advantage of DIA is standardization of image acquisition and processing, minimizing variance, and the ability to quantify the actual stained area together with staining intensity in a time efficient manner [ 8, 9].
