At follow-up 5 years postoperatively, no change in minimum knee extension in stance occurred in our patients, whereas moderate deteriorations of 4 7° were reported by others (Saraph et al. 2005, Rodda et al. 2006) and an improvement of 4° was found by Rutz et al. (2013).
"Out-of-phase" activity of the hamstrings was present at terminal stance, which occurred in order to assist with the push-off phase.
The results of this study suggest that due to a redistribution of joint moments a faster forward transfer of the centre of pressure underneath the foot during the stance phase occurred.

The differences in the AP motion groups occurred during stance phase.

A second, less frequent, activation occurred between mid-stance up to pre-swing (observed in 39.3 ± 22.4% of strides for VM and in 35.1 ± 20.6% for VL).
