Generally the stakeholders believed trial decision aids have the potential to better engage potential participants in the decision-making process and allow them to make more personally relevant decisions about their participation.
By combining clinical effectiveness data with an economic evaluation and with direct information from primary stakeholders, this trial offers a complete and thorough view on ST as a contribution to the improvement of treatment for this PD patient group.
They included 12 women and 11 men, aged from 35 to 80, who were from the following stakeholder groups: Trial Managers (n=5); Research Nurses (n=5); Ethics Committee Chairs (n=5); patients (n=4) and Clinical Principal Investigators (n=4).
Additional stakeholders, including the trial funders (NHMRC and Financial Markets for Children) and vaccine manufacturers, will be informed of the trial findings.
All stakeholders should promote trial registration and posting of results, and support initiatives that facilitate searches across multiple trial registries (strong recommendation).
The main finding of our study is that all of these documents seem to overlook the information needs of the various stakeholders in clinical trials, especially those of the trial participants.
The usefulness of the information for the public, clinicians, systematic reviewers, and other stakeholders interested in trial results could be improved by including a few additional methodologic fields.
In a clinical trial, stakeholders are limited to the surgeons, patients, and the prosthesis company involved.
These are, however, long-term national strategies not influenced by clinical trial stakeholders.
Trial stakeholders in South Africa can also turn to domestic guidance adapted from the UNAIDS (2000) guidelines [ 1].
