Afterward, staining of cell-surface CD80 was performed and then phagocytosis of MVA-B-infected MDDC by uninfected MDDC was assessed by flow cytometry considering the phenotypes CFSE+ CD80− (dead MVA-B-infected MDDC), CFSE− CD80+ (uninfected matured MDDC), CFSE+ CD80+ (CD80+ uninfected matured MDDC that ingested apoptotic CFSE+ MDDC during the incubation period).
